Trick or Treat

This is my second make for the 31 Days Of Halloween, which is taking place over at the Smeared Ink blog, sponsored by Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda. You can check out the Design Teams daily inspiration at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.

Here is my make, featuring Carmen's Veranda stamps Large People Skull and Grunge white swirl background. I also used the Old Typewriter Alphabet from Lost Coast Designs :

The skull image is so great. I stamped it onto glossy card stock in black versamark and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then added more definition to the shaded parts of the image using grey distress ink and a cut n dry pen nib.

I really love the grunge backgrounds, they are so versatile. I used the white one here stamped over a distress ink background and acrylic splatters. The words are white heat embossed.

The 'Trick or Treat' amused me, both words are pretty relevent to this image ... LOL. Love the sexual innuendo :)

Thanks for stopping by x

Halloween Luminary

Hello LCD Fans!
Leigh here to share the Halloween Luminary I made for the spooktacular 31 Days of Halloween blog hop we, the LCDesigners are playing in over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity which is our blog for all our fun events and challenges!  Pop on over and become a follower so you don't miss out on our fun activities, you could win some fab prizes!

I used two of our Carmen's Veranda stamps to make my luminary, Halloween Background and the
Flying Skull.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out and
YAY, LOL ;0)
I designed my luminary to be gorgeous in daylight and in the dark which you can see in all the photos below!  The glow is ever so pretty in the dark and look at the cool pattern it casts on the wall too!

I love working with faux stained glass effects and this one came together nicely.  The luminary is quite large, measuring at 5.25" square and 6.75" high.  I've got a tall 3" wide flameless candle in there but you can easily create a candlescape with a few in varying sizes.  The photos above show the luminary with a white paper insert acting as a light diffuser and the last photo shows it without for more of a stained glass effect.  In the photos below you can see how pretty it is in daylight too.  I stamped 4 panels of clear artist's overlay acetate with the Carmen's Veranda Halloween image in jet black StazOn ink and applied Watermelon and Sunshine Yellow Ranger Adirondack Brights Alcohol Ink with an ink applicator.   I designed the cardstock frame to fit the stamp perfectly, cut eight window panels with an Xacto knife and stamped them all with CV's Flying Skull in Brilliance Pearlescent Purple ink.  Even in the dark the pearlescent ink glows too.  The frame folds were scored on a scoreboard and the acetate panels adhered to the inside of the four front facing windows and the remaining four were added to the inside for additional stability and to make the inside look just as gorgeous as the outside.

Foiled ATC's

I (Granne) saw somewhere in the blog land someone using household foil on there project and absolutely wanted to try it myself.
So I took foil, made ATC sized bases and my alcohol inks (all 3 bottles that I have, lol) and gave it a go.

First I stamped Feather Bird to the foil using Stazon Ink  and let them dry, then I crushed the foils and glued them to the bases. After that I carefully added some alcohol ink and again, let them dry. And then, just added some pits and pieces:

What do you think, is here a trick or treat things happening?

Please don't forgot, there is several places you can play for a change to win these fabulous stamps:

Happy Skeletons

This is a make from 31 Days of Halloween thought I would add them all here as I forgot to do it after they were posted on the Lost Coast to Creativity Designer Blog :(  This make is from Lost Coast Designs and is from the fabulous stamp called "Dancing Skeletons" and I love this stamp!  I must admit I adore every stamp in the line of Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda; they seem made for my quirky self!

I used the glossy photo with wet Distress Inks to make the background for the dancing skeletons...I think that technique is wonderful!  Thanks Lindsay!  The canvas/cardboard it is mounted on is embossed with the "Three Trees" background stamp from Carmen's Veranda and embossed with black embossing powder.  I used sprays from DecoArt and Lindy's lots of layering on a gesso base.  The wire fence is handmade and then a chipboard cat, skull, and pumpkin and some black cardstock skulls with some spiders round up the whole night time party!  And for a party, no disco ball to be found so some silver beads frame the happy skellies!

Make sure you don't miss a day visiting the Lost Coast Designs Portal to Creativity for wonderful chances to enter our challenges and events and our Facebook page has a challenge that will be up very soon so keep up with the news there, too.

Murder of Crows~Postcard

Hi!

Today, it's me, kim, and I have a shiny colorful postcard to share with you!

I always have lots of fun with Distress Inks and embossing, today is no exception! On these lovely crows the embossing really makes them shine, and crows like shiny things :) Crows are wickedly curious and I think this one wants a ride on the bike, too!

The postcard is 6x4 inches. I used these stamps:
Spray webbing
Bird on Bike
Murder of Crows

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have been following along over at our event and challenge blog, Lost Coast Portal to Creativity, the October challenge theme is monochrome and all month long, every day, we have been featuring a new project for Halloween for the 31 Days of Halloween celebration! 31 Days of Halloween is presented by Smeared Ink and Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda are sponsors, so please hop over and be inspired!

See you soon!

Everything Dances

Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda are sponsoring Smeared Ink's 31 Days of Halloween. Every day for the duration of the event, fabulous Halloween inspired art will be shared by the Design Team at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.

For today, here is my make :

For this standard sized card I have used the larger skeleton from Dancing Skeletons. I stamped the skeleton in memento black and added depth and shading with copics, cool greys. I outlined the image in black and fussy cut it.

The background was so fun .... I got the idea for the background behind the skeleton from a Youtuber Shana Conroy, a video entitled Dreams. I painted the background with black gesso, then sprayed dylusions sprays and let it dry. I then splashed watered down white gesso onto the background, put a layer of paper on top and pulled it off. Because dylusions sprays react with water, they started to color the white gesso. I let it dry. Doesn't it look awesome, a perfect backdrop for the skeleton.

I layered this card, matting the black with distressed yellow card stock, and I stamped Carmen Veranda's grunge black swirl background onto the card base which I had first colored with distress inks.

The finishing touch was the words, which I typed on my typewriter. Cut them out and edged in black. I love Maya Angelou, and this quote from her suited this project perfectly I think.

I really enjoyed making this card ... so I decided to make a few artist trading cards too :
I used the exact same techniques and stamps, except for the stamping on the blue background. I used the same grunge black swirl, but this time I used the new ATC sized one. How great to have a smaller version for ATC's. The grunge backgrounds are really great, and there are a whole host of ATC background stamps available at Lost Coast Designs.

The words were quite amusing for one of the ATC's. Who remembers the hit from 1993, "Boom! Shake the Room"? Quite funny to link the old-school hip-hop with the dancing skeleton.

Hope you found some inspiration here and please pop over to The Lost Coast Portal to Creativity and Smeared Ink to see the other gorgeous pieces :)

BOO! said Poe to the Raven!

Hello Lost Coasters!
It's my turn to share some DT inspiration today.  We, the LCDesigners, are participating in the 7th annual 31 Days of Halloween blog hop hosted by Smeared Ink.  We are sharing projects every day for 31 days straight over on our Lost Coast Portal to Creativity event and challenge blog.
Stop by for tons of wicked cool Halloween inspiration and also see how you can win prizes every day!

On Oct 7, 156 years ago we bid farewell to the Master of Macabre, Edgar Allan Poe!
His memory lives on eternally in our art and in our hearts!

BOO! said Poe to the Raven
was my featured project for Day 1 of the hop on Oct 1st!
 I used the following stamps:
I found the BOO MDF shapes in Target's $ section and could not resist altering them!  First I typed out Poe's poem "The Raven" in Photoshop CS6, printed them out, traced the shapes, cut them out and ran each piece through my Xyron to add permanent adhesive.  I then stamped each piece with stamps from both Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda with onyx black Verafine ink.  I painted the MDF shapes with black acrylic paint and adhered each stamped panel to the shapes then finished each piece with Tea Dye and Black Soot Distress Inks applied with a Tim Holtz ink applicator.

Thanks for stopping by to see my project and I hope you'll join us over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity and Stay to Play coz we're celebrating the count down to Halloween with our own little party too!  There's loads to see and do....

World Card Making Day

Brilliant excuse (as I would need one) to get crafty - today is the 10th World Card Making Day holiday. Time to get creative and let your friends and love ones all over the World know you are thinking about them. Old-fashioned snail mail, it's always so lovely to get some.

World Card Making Day was originaly National Card Making Day and founded by Paper Crafts magazine to bring card makers together at the beginning of the busiest card-making season of the year.  First held on October 7, 2006, it is now celebrated annually on the first Saturday in October.

I made a card using awesome Spray Webbing stamp together with Feather Bird, both from Lost Coast Design.

First I painted the card base, then I glued some very very thin paper on it (Is it called rice paper or decoupe paper?).  I stamped  Feather Bird  using VersaFine black ink and then I stamped Spray Webbing with VersaMark and embossed it with clear embossing powder. Some brown DI and a sentiment ... that's how my Bold raven in a forest was made ... and will be flying to the other side of the world.

So make a card - Be bold!
